This is "just" something personal, portrait of my grandfather (who died 10 months ago) that I've painted for my mother, her Bday is tomorrow. It was the most difficult painting I've ever done and it took a lot of time to grab the courage to get to it. Yet, after I finished, I feel calm and in peace with his face. It made me feel quite proud of choosing to do what I do, this kind of work makes sense to me much more than anything I've done in my early years.

Enough rambling, this is watercolor & white gouache on 300g cold-pressed Canson paper, original is 30 x 42 cm / 11.8 x 15.7"

Very lovely & I can imagine how this would have been difficult for you. My dad passed away in 2010 & I have been meaning to draw his portrait, but just haven't been able to bring myself to yet
