My God, this is incredible, the colours, your technique, I don't think I've seen anything like it. I see a little Salvador Dali, but then that's only my opinion, plus I'm a fan of Dali and his surrealist artwork, but its still totally your own style and its simple incredible. The detail on the face is beautiful, and as I've said the colours is amazing, you've really got a great art style and as I said early I don't think I've seen anything quite like it, very well done, your a very talented artist and I wish all the best
I've written a number of critiques on Jane-Beat's work and as always am impressed by her use of colour. In this particular piece not only are the colours among my favourites but they are also strong, bold tints. A lot of watercolour paintings tend to be painted in more pastel tones so it is nice to see a 'go for it' approach to the colour. The facial features are for the most part outstanding especially the eyes and lips. For me the left side of the nose and nostril appears to be a little weak but that's a minor detail.
I am troubled a bit by the flow in the image. The strong feature is her face and eyes and the curve of her hand leads the viewer's eyes to it but then the lines coming from the right eye seem to draw you away. The effect just reverses if you go the other way. I found this to be distracting and reduced the impact of the face.
Interestingly enough the fine detail version of this picture, because of the different angle, almost looks a completely different and has only one flow path.
Despite the points mentioned, both picture end up in my favourites. Great job Jana.
I absolutely love your style. You portrayed emotion in her face extremely well, and I love the way the colors seem to be melting off of her. It gives the painting a very surreal feel. I also love how your able to breathe life into the eyes that you paint. Wonderful job!
