This painting literally lifts itself off the page. The color and shading around her mouth and nose give it a 3D effect. The gleam in her eyes, the way she's looking off to the side and the smile make me think she's looking at someone. The sly smile on her face won't let us in on the story, but her eyes say it's love. It could be her baby, boyfriend or lover, the picture says it all she's in love. You also have to notice the way she's caressing her cheek is it fond memories or is it what's to come later. The colors are great that's what gives it the lift, I love the eyes and lips they help give the portrait a little whismy. The color in her hair and a little color of cloth, helps raise this to be the what a lot of artists strive for a complete stranger whose first glance at this is wow.
