This is simply beautiful.

I have to incorporate your description in this because it definitely swayed my thoughts on it.

When I see it is titled "Mourn" I look to this picture and see a person in mourning. You also wrote, "all we do is try to understand," and I look to this picture and I see this face as a speaker, but perhaps the unsaid is who is trying to understand this face who mourns, who takes so much to try to understand.

The emotion captured in the eyes is magnetic. The colors are nice and remind me of shades of stone or pebbles in a brook of moving water. Perhaps this face could be a reflection in that water.

The only thing I am unsure of is whether or not I'm interpreting this to in the way you were trying to present this. Never the less, I believe this is my favorite.

There is no mouth, and as always, the eyes always seem to be holding all that needs to be told. This is a very good message.

You're ability with water color and unique way of presenting that in this piece are stunning. Fantastic job!

Only 1 watercolor pan and a very light finish touch with white gel pen, it was a minimum tool painting exercise :)

I hope I wouldn't understand the meaning behind this painting. But I unfortunately do.

Anyway... Good job since it definitely stirred emotions within me.

Hey, don't be sorry. It just shows how much your work touches people like that, which is exactly what true art does. If it makes you feel, that's what makes it AMAZING.

Sensational!! Wow..those eyes. How do you get the gel pen to work though!? When I used one it looked like liquid paper on my drawing!

The texture around the eyes reminds me of Pa'u Zotoh Zaahn from Farscape. [link] (not the best picture there, but you get the idea)
You created a nice variety of tones from that single hue.
