I'll tell you what I think I see in this stunning work of art; and whether you agree or not, I think it's what's implied.
What I see if a look of extreme determination gracing the features of a stoically colored face; characterized with piercing eyes, furrowed eyebrows, and a very set mouth. With the grays and light blue tinges, it almost appears as stone; unyielding to opposition. Then you have the maelstrom of colors flying in at this face, mixing and creating a wonderful disaster. The person; the image depicted, seems to be resolute even with the massive wave of aggression covering, striking him over and over. There's what appears to be a blood red coming from his eyes, which seem to be being assaulted the most violently.
So, in short, this seems to be a motivation for said determination. A man set on his goals in the midst of quite violent turmoil that surrounds him perpetually. Even though it's a still 2D image, just looking at it gives one a feeling of fast motion. Except for the face, obviously. Still; the colors are simply marvelous, the symbolism I've seen extraordinary, and as a final remark, I would like to congratulate you wholeheartedly on a job well done.
This is one of those "wow" paintings that people probably don't want to really touch or critique. I know there is one critique so far, but I think the impact and the way you did this, there isn't much to say against it to help you out a little. I can agree that it is difficult to do with this one. I even downloaded it to see if there was anything that I could say but I don't really have anything and the one thing I have is probably more of a preference than a thing to improve on with your technique.
The only problem that I have with this work is the bottom right hand corner. I thought that the bottom looked a bit... cluttered. Cluttered isn't really the word that I want to use but it's the best I can come up with. With the technique you used on the rest of the work to represent the dispersion away from his body, the right hand corner didn't really match the flow of the rest of the work. However, I have problems with even saying this because with the more white, it emphasized the drips of red.
However, overall you did a spectacular job on this work. As with many of your works, I love how you emphasized the eyes. Especially since the eyes are the main emphasis that reflects the strong will of the guy. I also have to compliment you on your ability to mix mediums. I have never really tried it, but I really enjoy seeing it in works because I believe it really adds an extra emphasis when done properly. I love the contrast of the dark and light colors to emphasize the fight between the two. Great job!
You really have an eye for textures and colours! This picture is very powerful; the textures and paint strokes really contribute to a certain dynamic feel. The intese stare of those eyes and overall expression give me a "Come on and try to take me on, I will fight and I won't back down" feel. And your use of colour... simply magnificient. Very well done!
Awh that's really cool - It took me a while and then I saw that these white squares were almost like paper peeling off and then I love the eyes (which one did you start with first - Im no good with them >.<) ^^ I'd really like to see lots more of your work so keep it up I Love It!
