The most curious story lies behind this portrait, but I can't tell it, maybe one day. I will just say that the woman on the portrait was last best girl-friend of mine and is the last piece of reason I no longer befriend women up to the point when I would call them "best friend". If I haven't painted this, the portrait would have never told me her secret that I shouldn't have discovered.
watercolor & pen, 250 g artist paper, 21 x 21 cm, Jun 2012
I literally was stunned speechless by this the first time I saw it. I just sat and stared. The art is simplicity itself, but with an under current of complication. There is an unbelievable sense of freedom here, along with a shrouded sort of mystery. It's almost as if the subject of the painting is sharing her secrets with you, as if the artist herself is inviting you into her world. This artist obviously knows her craft..the way she conveys the emotion of each subject is just astonishing. I am completely drawn in and I don't want to leave. Absolutely lovely. Every single piece.
