Diary of Jane #6

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 3, 2012, 9:53 AM
Hello there, this is my first entry from Slovakia, small town called Modra (in my language it means "Blue"). My studio is in my parent's house basement while my new apartment is late with being ready for me to move in. I have about 1 square meter of personal space, sharing room with my brother (oh lord), who watches horror movies behind my back as I write :/ I have to "suffer" these conditions for 3 more days before being able to paint.

It's December, isn't it wonderful? Probably the most peaceful month (or not?), when you drink warm punch, listen to carols, getting everything ready for Christmas Eve.. Still, trying to keep in mind that Christmas isn't about presents and not to waste this gracious spirit inside a shopping center :giggle: Best thing in the world is my parent's old piano, I haven't played in years!

Don't forget to send your loved ones a Christmas card & enjoy this feature

 selma-todorova SELMA TODOROVA  / Bulgaria

Selma's portraits painted in oil are huge inspiration to me, but her skilled hand is capable of creating miracles in many other media. You won't regret visiting her gallery, full of light and tenderness.

Nostalgia wearing its colorful Sunday dress: no matter whether your interest lies within traditional, digital or manga/anime galleries, you will enjoy strong pieces from this one.

 4th of December is a perfect day to submit your cheetah-themed artworks! Learn more about The International Cheetah Day Challenge to help raising awareness of this dying species and maybe even help raising money for the cause :shamrock:

 Another interesting thing to check out is surely the Interview with Erik Jones (theirison), published as part of the project AskTheArtist.

And how I must agree with you. One of my treasured things in
life is playing carols on my spinet ~ a Baldwin Acrosonic ~ which once
was my mother's. You write a good journal, Jane....thanks for
inviting me into the group!

Very nice feature.
The artworks of Selma Tordorova are splendid. "Mirror image" is just wonderful. The accuracy of the tone is perfect.
Thanks for sharing=)

The night of Christmas, you can play the piano for your whole family...;)

One must believe in the Christian Holiday to get to caught up in its trappings.

Today Christmas has very little to do with the belief of old. Today the holiday is the time that retailers make their living. It's a season that will make or break many of businesses. Tomorrow my roommate has roped me into helping her set up a tree. That's ok, but put my foot down on going shopping with her. If was to buy anyone a present in these times, would just give them a gift card. No one is satisfied with anything.

But then again, perhaps have a family makes a difference. Anyway, don't know anyone to send a card, even if believed in Christian

Boy, aren't I a fly in the pudding.

Perception of Christmas varies from family to family, we are not typical Christians by far but father always takes time to read something from the Bible on Christmas Eve, which makes it a spiritual experience, too.

Yes, I know Christians take Christmas serious, for many there is a great depression related to Christmas because of the stigma of gift giving and not able to give.

Jéé, vítaj v Modre :)! Dúfam že sa ti tu bude páčiť napriek momentálnym životným podmienkam ;D
Ale inač krásny výber tvorby, ako vždy. Som rada že existuje tvoj Diary of Jane inač by som vačšinu týchto inšpiratívnych umelcov najpravdepodobnejšie nemala šancu objaviť ^^
